Titus is ready to break booth attendance records this year at the Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration (AHR) Expo. Recognized as the industry leader in the commercial HVAC air-distribution market segment, Titus executives will showcase a variety of innovative products with strong industry appeal, including the industry’s quietest fan-powered terminal unit—Fantom Intelligently Quiet (Fantom IQ), fan coil access panels, belt-drive air handlers and the outstanding TDX ULTRA diffuser touting the highest air-mixing ratio on the market.
Titus’ air distribution system products will be on display in the Titus booth, where attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the company’s technical experts and learn about the latest industry trends. The exposition is projected to attract thousands of engineers, architects and building contractors.
“Titus leads the industry in researching and developing new, efficient designs, and our goal is to demonstrate our company’s technological leadership,” said Titus Director of Product Development Joe Groh. “The upcoming AHR trade show optimizes our position to display our innovative air distribution system products and discuss the leading research and development that goes into each Titus product. We want to continue to be the company that engineers and architects depend on for product information and education, as well as for dependable, high-quality products.”
Raising the bar and leading the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC) industry with new products is business as usual for Titus. The company is displaying many items at the AHR Expo that are certain to capture the attention of the building industry.
Terminal Units
TFS and Fantom Intelligently Quiet (Fantom IQ)
Titus TFS and Fantom Intelligently Quiet (Fantom IQ) fan-powered terminals are two new products that resulted from engineers and contractors requesting a smaller, quieter, less costly fan box than previous terminal units on the market. Titus’ research and development engineers worked diligently to address size, flexibility, sound, cost and accessibility in the new designs and are proud to showcase the new Titus line.
Fantom IQ and TFS terminal units are easy shipped/installed terminal units that are contractor friendly and allow for easy field installation with simple interchangeable inlets.
These new Titus items are the HVAC market’s quietest fan-powered terminals and utilize the patent-pending Full Acoustic Spectrum Tuner (FAST) integral attenuator. Either the Titus’ Fantom Intelligently Quiet (Fantom IQ) or TFS is available with an ultra-high efficiency GE ECM motor. In addition to motor development, the product benefits include mounting and positioning, acoustic materials, cabinet design, blower technology and alternate liner options.
The Fantom IQ exceeds the acoustic performance of all other fan boxes on the market—it’s the quietest fan box in the industry. Titus is already well-known for having the #1 flow sensor, the AeroCross, in today’s terminal unit market.
Titus Valve Package
Titus is introducing a valve package for terminal units that will save field time and money. Company management is confident that the complete line of competitively priced packages should meet 80% of typical terminal unit valve package requirements.
The new packages are offered in three major groups—normally-open, 2-way and 3-way actuators. Titus model TVP has twelve unit configurations. Each configuration is a specific combination of valve, union, flow control and/or strainer.
Grilles, Registers and Diffusers
TDX ULTRA, TSW Swirl, OMNI-RS, DynaFuser, T3SQ
Titus leads the industry in launching the TDX ULTRA, a diffuser with the highest mixing ratio in the market. The patent-pending design produces high and low velocity zones where room air is induced and mixes rapidly. TDX combines high-induction, short throws and faster temperature equalization resulting in maximum comfort for room occupants (ADPI). The result is exceptional indoor air quality unmatched by any diffuser in the market.
Through an exclusive alliance with Rickard Air Diffusion, Titus is introducing two new diffusers to the product line, the TSW Swirl and OMNI-RS. The TSW utilizes a radial face to produce a unique 360-degree swirl pattern with high induction characteristics. The OMNI-RS features a round plaque face mounted in a square back pan. This diffuser features a tight horizontal air pattern which makes it a great choice for variable air volume applications. Both diffusers feature an architectural design that satisfies the most stringent aesthetic requirements.
Titus has designed functionality into its newest slot diffuser, the DynaFuser, by using the latest in auto-changeover technology. Utilizing a special alloy, the actuator moves the pattern controller blade from horizontal to vertical position to accommodate cooling or heating requirements. This automatic process eliminates the need to physically change the blade settings for heating or cooling modes.
The company is also announcing the T3SQ VAV diffuser, a square thermal modulating product powered by Rickard Intelligent Comfort Control and mounted in the very popular Titus OMNI. T3SQ is designed for individual comfort control and variable air volume in areas where VAV terminals have not been installed. This new diffuser controls room temperature using a control disc to vary the supply of air volume based on room temperature requirements.
Because of the individual comfort control and variable air volume features in the new Titus T3SQ product, building owners may qualify for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) Green Building credit under U. S. Green Building Council’s Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 6, Controllability of Systems program.
Titus T3SQ, a thermally-powered VAV diffuser, can be installed quickly without the need for electrical support and is a cost-effective solution for any area that requires individual comfort control. The thermostat, actuator and control disc are built into the diffuser. Temperature set points for both heating and cooling are separately adjusted within the diffuser.
Optimum performance in terms of uniform air distribution and low noise levels has been combined with simple construction and aesthetically-pleasing OMNI appearance in the new Titus T3SQ VAV diffuser.
Additionally, the Titus special products group is ready to provide solutions for custom applications when standard products are inadequate for architectural designs. Several custom models will be on display in the Titus booth at the AHR Expo.
Under Floor Air Distribution
Titus expands the range of products for its under-floor air distribution (UFAD) product line. The standard TAF-R diffuser, the TAF-R-FR UL-listed, fire-rated diffuser, the TAF-V and TAF-D plenum diffusers and the LHK and PFC fan-powered terminals are joined by the new TAF-L linear modulating diffuser.
Titus and Smith Group have developed a unique patent pending approach to linear under-floor air distribution. Although the interior zones of an under-floor system are easily supplied with a round TAF-R or TAF-R-FR diffuser, the perimeter zones tended to be more difficult to control prior to the development of the TAF-L. The TAF-L has a unique actuating aperture mounted on a CT linear bar diffuser. This new product creates a diffuser plume that combines induction and displacement models, handles high thermal loads, engages the occupied zone but not the stratified ceiling layer—to avoid occupant complaints regarding air rolling back and dumping into interior spaces.
Lynergy Electric Heater
An HVAC system’s zone re-heat design needs to address concerns about comfort, indoor air quality, energy consumption and acoustics. Several American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) standards apply to all of these design areas. The ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook states that discharging air at a temperature more than 15°F above the room temperature (90°F in a 75°F room) will likely result in significant unwanted air temperature stratification.
Standard staged electric heat energizes each stage of heat as the zone temperature calls for more heat. In a three-stage heater, the increase happens in 33% heater output increments. If an additional 33% heater output provides too much heating, then the heater will de-energize that stage, resulting in over and under-heating of the zone. The Titus Lynergy proportional heater eliminates the over and under-heating of the zone by providing only as much heater output as is needed to satisfy the zone.
In addition to providing the exact amount of heater output required, the Lynergy heater has an optional discharge temperature sensor. This lets the heater’s controller limit the electric heater’s maximum discharge temperature and meets the requirements of the ASHRAE standards.
Titus Lynergy Comfort Control electric heater is an electronic, time-proportional electric heater which uses silent, rapid-responding, solid-state relays. The solid-state relays are controlled by the Lynergy Comfort Controller, a device that accepts several input signal types to provide superior control.
Air Handlers and Fan Coils
Air handlers and fan coils partner to provide effective temperature control in any newly built or remodeled construction project. Individual rooms can be fitted with fan coils while Titus belt-drive air handlers work well in common building areas. Air handlers provide greater air flow, increased static pressure and multi-row coil capability to serve the large open areas with greater efficiency.
The vertical model VAB will be on display in the Titus booth at the upcoming trade show. It features high-efficiency 4-row cooling coil, 2-row heating coil, 1200 cubic feet per minute (CFM) size, ½ HP motor and a large, easy-to-remove front access panel.
Titus offers multiple-sized air handler units up to 20-ton capacity in horizontal, vertical, modular and rooftop series to fit any building design or installation requirement. A wide variety of options are available including four and six-row cooling coils, one and two-row heating coils in preheat or reheat configuration, face and bypass dampers, mixing boxes and electric heat.
Titus will feature two fan coil units at the expo in Orlando— vertical stack model VSR Recessed and horizontal model HBP w/Plenum. The quiet operation of the units was substantiated by sound tests performed according to ARI 260/350 standards. All of the company’s fan coil units are pressurized with air to ensure that the unit arrives at the job site without leaks. The fan coil units feature removable panels for access to fans, piping and electrical components, and are equipped with a double-layer 18g, G90 condensate pan that is very durable and easy to clean.
The center of attention for this product group will be the new grille options for vertical stack fan coils. Unquestionably the finest offering on the market, the linear bar grille stands out in the Titus AHR booth with a striking presentation. Also, a new extruded aluminum, fully louvered grille which is a step above the traditional stamped grille/access panel, will be on display at the trade show.
The vertical stack series incorporates many standard features that are often considered to be options on other products. Titus VSR Recessed is offered in 300-1200 CFM sizes with 2 to 5-row coils. Individually-sized, field-installed riser extensions on vertical stack units eliminate field fabrication, saving freight and labor costs. Adjustable flanges for sheetrock thickness are included with the product.
HBP w/Plenum is a horizontal fan coil model that’s available for a single-room application. This product can be supplied with either a horizontal or vertical filter slide as well as a rear or bottom return and is offered in 200-1200 CFM sizes with 2 to 5-row coils.
Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL) certifies that all Titus product designs, manufacturing methods and manufacturing facilities meet UL standards.
