Energy & Comfort Optimization (ECO) UFAD System
Underfloor air distribution (UFAD) system design has grown in the decade since it first gained popularity in the US. Every project learned something from the previous project as the concept of UFAD systems was modified to work in the various climates of the US.
The Energy & Comfort Optimization (ECO) UFAD product line is the outcome of over a decade of UFAD experience at Titus. The ECO UFAD product line started with our TAF-R high induction swirl diffuser, but has grown to include many other products such as the TAF-D, TAF-V, and TAF-HC plenums.
One challenge for UFAD systems is how to handle the high load of the perimeter without sacrificing the comfort of the occupants. The perimeter is typically the most difficult area of an underfloor system to design. The TAF-L perimeter system is the next generation of perimeter systems. It is designed to handle the high loads of the perimeter without sacrificing the comfort of the occupants. It also eliminates the need for fan powered terminals in the perimeter, which saves energy and eliminates the associated costs and maintenance that can come with fan powered terminals.
The core of the TAF-L system is the TAF-L-V cooling unit and the TAF-L-W fin tube heating unit. The TAF-L-V utilizes the underfloor plenum pressure instead of a fan powered terminal to handle the cooling load of the perimeter without breaking the stratification layer. The TAF-L-W fin tube heater uses room air to heat the perimeter instead of reheating the supply air in the underfloor plenum. This saves energy and meets ASHRAE 90.1 requirements to not simultaneously heat and cool air.
The ECO UFAD system provides all of the products you need to design an energy efficient and comfortable UFAD system.
