The EOS features a unique auto-changeover function built into the pattern controller/actuator assembly. The unit is powered by a single solar panel mounted on the diffuser’s bottom side. The solar panel gathers sunlight through the window and ambient light from the room itself, thus generating energy that powers the diffuser.
A truly “smart diffuser”, the Titus EOS features a specially designed circuit board connected to the actuator assembly. This board houses energy storing capacitors, temperature sensing devices, an energy harvesting device, and specially programmed algorithmic logic to regulate actuation changeover time and sequence.
The unit “wakes up” every 3 minutes to check the room and supply air temperature, then logs both. When the air temperature is recorded out of a pre-set dead band, the smart logic instructs the diffuser to change the blade position for either heating or cooling. If the temperature calls for heating, the logic instructs the actuator to move the pattern blade to the vertical position to direct airflow downwards. If the temperature calls for cooling, the logic instructs the actuator to move the pattern blade to the horizontal position to direct airflow horizontally across the ceiling.
Ultimately, providing the quickest, most energy efficient use of heating and cooling, and the most optimal thermal comfort possible.
The EOS is designed to deliver both heating and cooling in any building with perimeter areas that contain glass windows, walls, or doors. The energy-harvesting feature allows full operation of the diffuser without any external power source. In fact, the EOS offers energy savings in the range of 30% over traditional linear diffusers.
Its energy saving benefits make the EOS an ideal choice when considering LEED certification. In addition, ASHRAE standards can be more easily achieved with the addition of the EOS to building perimeters.
